Blackboard is a password-protected virtual classroom environment. Once you have registered for an online course, a Blackboard account will be created for you.  This account will contain personal information such as your first and last name, email address (University supplied), and Student ID number.

Tri-State University has developed a convention for creating Blackboard accounts for students, the convention for usernames is first initial, middle initial and last name. Passwords are initialized to "changeme" the password should be changed as soon as possible.

If your initials and name match an existing student's initials and name, the computer center will choose another combination, please consult your instructor as to how you are registered in the course.

For example, a student named Joe Zachary Doe

Username = jzdoe
Password = changeme
