Tri-State University has a high speed campus-wide data communications network. There is no fee to connect to this network, and it is available in all classrooms, labs and in residential facilities. Tri-State University has secure wireless available in all academic and administrative buildings, student villas, and in common areas in the apartments and units. An exception is Stewart Hall which will not be upgraded to wireless. Student rooms have one network jack for each student. Students living in campus housing with personal computers are able to attach their computer to this network and have access to e-mail, the Internet, University network servers, as well as the on-line library catalog.

The University Student Residential Network Technicians, located in the University Center, are available to assist students with their PCs throughout the year. Students can contact them at extension 4275 or by email at help@tristate.edu. Offices are open on weekdays/evenings and at least one technician is on call each weekend. Once students are on campus, he/she may contact the Student Residence Hall Technicians for assistance with connecting his/her PC to the network.
If students wish to connect a computer to the network themselves, there will be instructions available Move-In Day. Students will be required to download a client on his/her computer and to have the University anti-virus installed, running and up-to-date on virus definitions in order to use the residence halls network.
PLEASE NOTE: TSU will NOT be providing the Ethernet patch cable (RJ45) to connect your PC to the network.
Several students like to share out their files over our network. If students choose to do this, he/she is responsible for anything anyone places in his/her shared folders. Online piracy is prohibited. Any student who violates this policy will be subject to disciplinary action. Online piracy is the unauthorized uploading of a copyrighted sound or video recording and making it available to the public, or downloading a recording from an Internet site, even if the recording isn't resold. Online piracy may now also include certain uses of "streaming" technologies from the Internet.
Please read the IT Computer Usage Policy and Security Policy located on the Tri-State University web site at http://www.tristate.edu/it/policy.cfm.
