Using the Online Catalog

To find books in the TSU collection use the Online Library Catalog  The Online Public Access Catalog (or OPAC) searches the records attached to items (books, videos, software, kits and other materials) in the collection.  The searchable fields attached to item records include:

  • Author(s)
  • Title
  • Series and publisher information
  • Notes - which sometimes describes the book's content, and sometimes not
  • Subject headings - assigned topic descriptors that describe the book's subject.
  • Other bibliographic information
  • You  may search any of these fields (or all of them) by keyword.
  • You may refine your search if you have a particular title, author or series in mind by limiting your search to the appropriate field (title, author, etc.)
  • A browse search will bring up an alphabetical list with your term usually in the second line.  For example, using <world war> in a browse subject search will bring up:
World Trade Organization -- Developing countries
World War, 1914-1918 - [LC Authority Record]
World War, 1914-1918 -- Battles, sieges, etc. -[LC Authority Record]
See: World War, 1914-1918 -- Naval operations
World War, 1914-1918 -- Biography
World War, 1914-1918 -- Campaigns - [LC Authority Record]

  • The OPAC search interface provides tips on search operators at the bottom of the page.
