About The Library
|
|
The Sponsel Library employs a workforce that includes three librarians
and two support staff members supplemented by 8-10 student workers
serving approximately 1,600 students, providing a collection of approximately
60,000 print volumes with access to a number of electronic resources.
The Library utilizes the Ex Libris Aleph automated system and is a
consortial member of the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI),
the Indiana Cooperative Services Library Authority (INCOLSA),
Academic Libraries of Indiana (ALI), Indiana Library Federation (ILF),
and the Online Computer Library Network (OCLC).

Tri-State University is a member of the
PALNI (Private Academic Library Network of Indiana) consortium. The PALNI
consortium consists of 25 academic libraries which have combined their resources to form a
common, computerized database which is accessible by every member of the PALNI network. |

Community Borrowers |
The Library is open to the Public for general use. Local residents can request a Community Borrower card that allows them to check out materials from the Library’s collections:

Borrowers must be 18 years of age or older and not enrolled in high school.

Initial enrollment in the Library ‘s borrowing program costs $25.00 with an annual renewal fee of $10.00 per year (request a borrower card at the 2nd floor Circulation / Reference Desk)

Parents or guardians of local school students may purchase a Community Borrower card in their own name and sign a permission form allowing their child to use the card. The parent or guardian takes full responsibility for any library fines and bills incurred by their children for damaged, lost and unreturned library materials.

The Library grants guest access to the Internet (a sign in sheet is provided at the main floor Information Desk)

Policies |
- Current student ID, Community Borrower card
or Reciprocal Borrowing permission is required to borrow materials.
- Books may be borrowed for a 3 week loan
period.
- Most media may be borrowed for a 7 day loan
period.
- Journals do not circulate.
- All circulating materials may be renewed
unless requested by another borrower.
- Outstand fines and unreturned items may
result in delays in registering for subsequent semesters, and
receiving transcripts.
- Drink containers with lids are permitted in
the library.
- Food permitted except near PCs and equipment.
