University elects Colorado alum to board of trustees

Tri-State University has named Mitchel E. Rhoads to its Board of Trustees. Rhoads is Chairman of Rhoads Hold Ltd. Inc. and LePeep Restaurants, both based in Colorado. He graduated from Tri-State College in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (accounting).

“I am very pleased to welcome Mitch Rhoads as a new trustee,” said Dr. Earl D. Brooks II, president of Tri-State University. “Mitch has exhibited great leadership in his business career, and I know he will be an invaluable adviser and resource as we focus on the future of the Ketner School of Business.”

During his career, Rhoads was executive vice president of world-wide operations for Burger King, president of Technicolor Corp. retail division, and a court-appointed trustee of International House of Pancake. He was named Food Service Executive of the Year in 1987.

In addition to Rhoads Holding, which he founded in 1993, and LePeep Restaurants, which he purchased in 1992, Rhoads’ other interests include Mountain State Provisioners, Beneficial Santa Rosa, Finca Isis Estate Coffee, and Dawnbreakers Venture Capital.

“We are fortunate to have this caliber of leadership join our board,” said John Pittman ’58, chair of the TSU Board of Trustees. “We are confident Mitch will help us capitalize on our recent successes as we plan new technology initiatives, enhance our faculty and facilities, expand adult learning options and complete our $70 million capital campaign.”

Rhoads is an executive professor at the University of Northern Colorado Monfort College of Business and a member of its Dean’s Leadership Council. He also serves as chairman of the Colorado State Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation, chairman of the Colorado Art Foundation, and chairman of the KRMA (Denver PBS) Business Connection, and is one of 250 invited members of the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s Republican Presidential Roundtable.
