TSU scholarship gala sets another record

Tri-State University’s third annual scholarship gala was a huge success thanks to the community, friends, alumni, and faculty and staff of TSU.  Last weekend’s gala set another record with $63,000 raised for student scholarships.  This amount tops last year’s record by $3,000.

“We are fortunate to have a supportive community of friends and alumni who participate in this event,” said Melanie Brooks, TSU gala co-host.  “We are grateful for the generosity of all the local individuals and businesses that provided support for the auction items.  The silent and live auctions brought excitement to the event and helped boost the overall scholarship fund.  This could not have been possible without the hard work and support of the gala committee and TSU students, faculty and staff.”

One highlight of the evening were the four live auctions led by State Senator Dennis Kruse.  The live auctions brought in over $10,000 towards institutional scholarships.  Also on hand were Kruse’s wife, Kay, and State Representative and Mrs. Dick Dodge.

In addition to the silent and live auctions, attendees sampled wine provided by Visentin Wine and Spirits, and enjoyed the sounds of the Hillsdale College Contemporary Jazz Band, which performed throughout the night.  The gala was hosted by Dr. and Mrs. Earl D. Brooks II and Drs. Ralph and Sheri Trine.

Each year, TSU awards over $7.5 million in institutional scholarships to support students who attend the Angola campus.
