Tri-State University’s Habitat for Humanity chapter is partnering with the First Congregational United Church of Christ to hold a Swiss Steak Dinner on Saturday, January 28 at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds from the dinner will send students on a spring break trip. Tickets are available for $8 and will include a presentation of the 2005 spring break trip.
Seven TSU students will participate in the second annual Tri-State Habitat Spring Break trip March 4-11. During the trip, the students will help construct a home for a needy family in Brunswick, Georgia.
“We believe this is a great opportunity for our students to realize the importance of life-long giving and community involvement,” said Scott Kiefer, TSU’s Habitat adviser. “These students are giving up their spring break for the benefit of a family that is currently living in substandard housing. We would like to provide the opportunity for these young people to give of their time without burdening them with the expense of the trip.”
The total cost of the trip is approximately $2,200, including transportation, food, and housing. The university is furnishing a van for the students’ trip, and they will stay in dormitory housing while they build.
Those interested in attending the dinner should contact Scott Kiefer at 665.4230 or Kim Miller at 665.4184. If you are not able to attend the dinner, but would like to donate toward the trip, contact Kiefer or Miller.
