ANGOLA, Ind.—Tri-State University is pleased to announce that the Rieke Corporation, headquartered in Auburn, Ind., recently made a $50,000 gift to the Vision for the Future campaign. The gift will be used to fund the campus-wide wireless initiative program.
“The wireless network will be expanded from four current hot spots available to students to a campus-wide environment, covering all academic learning spaces on campus, public facilities, and the residence halls,” said Michelle Dunn, chief information officer for TSU. “Wireless access to the Internet and Tri-State University digital resources will be available to students, faculty, administration, alumni, and guests.”
According to Dunn, the technology plan will be executed by the fall of 2007. The project includes a campus-wide wireless environment, infrastructure upgrades for the network, more servers and storage capacity, and enhanced remote access. Tablet PCs for faculty and a student laptop/tablet initiative are also planned for the campus, along with the installation of intelligent classrooms.
“We are pleased to continue our long relationship with the University,” said Lynn A. Brooks, president of the Rieke Corporation and a graduate of Tri-State University. “The corporation’s former president, Glenn Rieke, was a trustee of TSU from 1962 until 1991. This is one way for us to show our support and approval of the University’s progress.”
Rieke Corporation produces closures and dispensing equipment for the packaging industry. In Auburn since 1921, the company employs many Tri-State graduates. Rieke is a subsidiary of TriMas Corporation, a diversified company with sales of $1.2 billion annually. TriMas is headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
