Cinema Sampler, Tri-State University’s free movie series, begins its fall 2006 schedule at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 14 in Wells Theatre in Taylor Hall. The theme of the fall series is “Family.” Focusing on the concept of family, these films will explore a wide range of family structures and relationships. The series will continue on most Thursday nights at 7 p.m. through November 30.
The first film, Junebug, was critically acclaimed by the New York Times writer Stephen Holden as being a “wise, bittersweet, beautifully acted comedy.” Starring Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams, the drama is about a dealer in outsider art who travels from Chicago to North Carolina to meet her new in-laws, challenging their middle class Southern home. The R rated film contains sexual content and language.
Cinema Sampler is sponsored by the TSU Humanities Institute, a campus affiliate of the Indiana Humanities Council. The institute will present eight free films throughout the fall. The public is invited to the 75-seat theater, which features widescreen projection and surround sound.
