Tri-State University’s 34th annual Math Competition set for Wednesday in Hershey Hall will be postponed to Wednesday, Feb. 6 due to predicted harsh weather.

This year’s competition will award the teachers of the winning teams cash prizes to enhance math programs at their schools. The mathematics teacher for the first-place team will receive $1,000, while the second-place team instructor will take home $500 and the third-place team instructor will earn $250 to spend on programs at their discretion.

Students can compete as elementary or advanced mathematicians individually, and then as four-person teams made up of two elementary and two advanced students. Exams are written by TSU professors.

The winner in the advanced level individual competition will receive a $5,000 tuition scholarship to TSU. Each of the four members of the winning team will be awarded a $3,000 tuition scholarship to TSU.
