The 48nd annual edition of the Northeastern Indiana Tri-State Regional Science Fair will be Saturday, March 15, in Tri-State University’s Hershey Hall. This year’s fair will include over 350 projects by elementary and secondary students from four northeast Indiana counties. The event will be open to the public from 1-4 p.m. Science Central museum in Fort Wayne will also present a family fun festival, Science in Motion, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in Hershey Hall.
Students in grades 1-12 from Dekalb, Noble, LaGrange, Steuben, and St. Joseph, Mich. county schools have created the projects chosen to participate. Top projects may receive place awards and/or special awards from area and national organizations and governmental agencies. Five senior division projects and three junior division projects will be chosen to compete in the Hoosier Science and Engineering Fair, to be held in Greencastle, Ind. on April 5. Two senior division projects will be selected to go on to the International Science and Engineering Fair, which will be held this year in Atlanta, Ga.
“Many people, including teachers, business people, and Tri-State University faculty and staff are responsible for the success of the Regional Science Fair,” said Ann Benson, Tri-State University chair, associate professor of science and a fair organizer. “We owe a big thank-you to them all.”
The fair is sponsored by Tri-State University in conjunction with business and industry in Dekalb, Noble, LaGrange, and Steuben counties.
