A visit May 14 and 15 by its accrediting organization produced a positive recommendation for two new majors and a master’s degree program for Tri-State University’s School of Professional Studies.
The visit from the Higher Learning Commission focused on the TSU school as its leadership requested curriculum and program changes, said SPS Dean Jean Deller. Those gathered for the focused meeting included members of the Fort Wayne Safety Academy, who expressed optimism with the offering of the emergency management and criminal justice majors, Deller said. Representatives from the renowned criminal justice program at the main campus at Angola fielded questions from the HLC, and TSU representatives from the offices of admission, financial aid, information technology, and business discussed the delivery of their services to students in the new majors and master’s degree.
Among changes requested were the ability of SPS to offer a bachelor’s degree with a major in emergency management; an online bachelor’s degree with a major in business administration; and a master’s degree in criminal justice, Deller said.
HLC officials said their recommendation to the commission will be to grant the SPS all three requests, with no restrictions. For more information on the new degree offerings, contact Deller at 260.483.4949.
