Tri-State University, in conjunction with the Northern Indiana Alumni Directors Consortium (NIACD), is participating in an Easter project to guard against the abuse and neglect of children.
On March 12, students, faculty and staff members gathered in TSU’s University Center to fill over 100 Easter baskets with treats for donation to children who otherwise may not receive an Easter basket this season.
The project supports Stop Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN), an organization dedicated to bettering the lives of children. NIACD supports the Easter basket initiative to help stop child abuse and neglect in the northern Indiana area.
Joining TSU as consortium members are Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, Indiana Tech, Manchester College, Taylor University, Huntington University, Indiana Wesleyan University, University of Saint Francis, Grace College, and Ivy Tech State College.
TSU’s main Angola campus and TSU Fort Wayne can still accept filled Easter baskets for children through Monday, March 17. To donate a basket, contact Julie Wert in the Office of Alumni and Development at 260.665.4316 or Sarah Brown at 260.665.4173. The Office of Alumni & Development and the Office of Student Life co-sponsored the event.
TSU student organizations involved with filling Easter baskets included Phi Sigma sorority, Delta Chi fraternity, Christian Campus House, Fencing Club, Drama Club, Residence Life, and Bacchus. TSU faculty and staff involved were from the Business Office, Academic Affairs, the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, the Office of Admission, the Office of the President, and the Office of Career Services.
