The Angola Area Chamber of Commerce named Tri-State University Business of the Year during an annual awards luncheon Friday, April 5 in Pokagon State Park’s Potawatomi Inn.
Angola Chamber executive director Patti Anderson presented the award to TSU President Dr. Earl Brooks II for the university’s community impact in a number of areas. The university generates $35 million for the local economy yearly, and has channeled over $50 million into campus improvements over the past few years through its Vision for the Future capital campaign. In addition, the institution employs 335 people and continues to otherwise benefit its community through sustained enrollment growth.
Motivational speaker Dan Surface of Fort Wayne advised on business vitality, retention, and improvement, urging the 220 listeners to adapt to changing economies.
“We are honored by the Angola Chamber Business of the Year award,” Dr. Brooks said. “It underscores our deep commitment to our partnership with the community.”
