tsu spring plays key on mystery, death

Mystery and death will catch the stage lights humorously this month, as the Tri-State University Drama Club presents “The Butler Did It” by Walter and Peter Marks and “Death Knocks” by Woody Allen in Taylor Hall’s Wells Theater on March 27-29 at 7:20 p.m.

“The Butler Did It,” under the direction of Kevin Dahlstrom and stage management of Erik Evans, tells the story of Anthony J. Lefcourt (Jordan Rippy), a writer and director who hopes to regain his faded glory with his new play, a classic “whodunit” in which all the characters are named Butler. To encourage his cast’s best performance, he withholds the final scene of the play from them and stages the murder of one of the cast, leaving the audience to wonder what is real and what is not. Rounding out the cast are: Daniel Wiehe, Brian Biancardi, Heather Aleshire, Caitlin Mata, and Keith Gassman

“Death Knocks,” under the direction of Chris Barr and Robert Shivers, is a humorous story of Death’s first day on the job.  After shimmying up a drainpipe and spraining its ankle upon falling, Death (Laura Hague) arrives for Nat Ackerman (Keith Gassman).

Both plays contain adult language and situations. Because seating is extremely limited, reservations are suggested.  For more information on these nights of theatre or for reservations, call 260.665.4860.
