Lovers of music, motion, and precision can see those elements come together on Tri-State University’s Shive Field Wednesday, June 27 at 8:30 p.m., when the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps performs a free rehearsal show.
The corps made its first TSU stop last year to practice between contests, said Lisa Johnloz, event coordinator for the Office of Student Life. “I was amazed at the dedication and determination as I watched the young people practice over and over until they achieved perfection,” she said. “Even after a grueling afternoon in the hot sun, the students were extremely polite and well-mannered and in very good humor as they exited the field.”
Founded in 1965, the Blue Stars youth music organization brings together musicians and performers ages 14-21 for full summers of rehearsals, performances, and travel. In 2006, the corps claimed 14th place in Division I finals of Drum Corps International, marching music’s major league, in Madison, Wis.
The university invites the public to enjoy the show. For more information, contact Johnloz at 260.665.4543.
