fall frenzy scheduled at tsu

Fall Frenzy, an open house to provide high school students and their families a chance to visit Tri-State University, will be Saturday at the Angola campus beginning with check-in and refreshments in the Trine Welcome Center from 8-8:30 a.m.

Students will then meet in the Fabiani Theatre in the new University Center for welcoming comments from TSU President Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D. An overview from students and faculty from TSU’s four schools of study will follow beginning at 9 a.m. Those interested in the Allen School of Engineering & Technology will remain in Fabiani Theatre, while students considering a course of study in the Franks School of Education will meet in Perry T. Ford Library Room 201. Jannen School of Arts & Science students will meet in Wells Theater, Taylor Hall, and Ketner School of Business students will meet in Shambaugh Hall Room 109.

From 10-11:15 a.m., students can choose from one of three panel discussions. The offices of Student Life, Career Services, Academic Support, and Retention will lead discussion in Fabiani Theater, while the offices of Admission, Financial Aid, and Scholarships will convene in Best Hall Room 221. A third panel will be given during an open house by the Athletic Office in the University Mall in the University Center.

After a brief look at the TSU women’s volleyball in action against Kalamazoo College in Hershey Hall, lunch will begin in Whitney Commons in the University Center at 11:15 a.m. Coaches will be available at this time to speak with potential student-athletes. From noon-1 p.m., students will tour campus with TSU students, and from 1-6 p.m. can view the TSU football game against Defiance College, the women’s soccer game against Spalding University, or the men’s soccer game against Case Western Reserve University. Admission to the games is free with the display of the visiting student’s name tag.

The activity-packed weekend will provide plenty of energy and excitement for students attending the first open house, said Kelly Butler, Visit Coordinator with the Office of Admission. “It’s in conjunction with Family Weekend and Little Sibs Weekend, plus there are a lot of home athletic events,” she said. “The first open house of the year is always exciting.”
