Andrew Morris, a 2003 TSU golf management graduate, has been promoted to tour representative for Titleist and Foot-Joy, suppliers of golf equipment to members of the Professional Golf Association (PGA) and recreational golfers across the world.
Only about 30 golf tour representatives exist in the country, said TSU head men’s golf coach and golf management program director, Bill San Giacomo. Morris will represent the companies to the tour players at all its nationwide stops, demonstrating the newest equipment and products and giving the professionals a chance to try them out. New Titleist clubs not yet available to the public are among the products he now demonstrates.
Morris will also visit training tours to observe up-and-coming golf stars and possibly sign them to contracts endorsing his companies’ products.
A member of the TSU golf team, he connected with Foot-Joy straight out of college, one of six selected for an interview and one of only two hired for customer service in the Massachusetts firm in 2003.
The company announced his promotion last month, and Morris called San Giacomo with the good news immediately. “I stay in touch with most of the players,” San Giacomo said. “I get good reports on our golf management kids hired, because they’re well prepared for the profession.”
