tsu announces more housing, athletic upgrades

The Tri-State University Board of Trustees Saturday approved recommendations on a range of improvements designed to accommodate increased student enrollment and enhance the experience of athletics at TSU. New student apartments and a revision to the master plan in regard to athletics will continue to change the face of the university yet this fall.

The revised master plan specific to the construction of athletics now includes the construction of a separate field house with 200-meter indoor track. Shive Field will remain “open air,” and artificial turf will be installed to accommodate football and lacrosse. Other improvements will include the construction of new facilities on the north side of the field, to include press boxes, locker rooms, weight and training rooms, and offices. The practice football field will also be renovated.

The Thunder sports park will see a broad range of improvements, including the installation of sidewalks, concession stands, restrooms, and an improved parking area. Hershey Hall will receive renovation and improvement in the form of new weight rooms and office areas.

On TSU’s championship Zollner Golf Course, redesigned bunkers and the addition of water hazards will increase the levels of interest and difficulty for golfers.
