WEAX 88.3-FM, the radio station of Tri-State University, will celebrate two milestones when it launches a new morning show on Monday, March 24. The station reaches the 30-year mark this year, and has recently moved its operation to a new studio and offices in the University Center.

The broadcast will air weekdays from 6-8 a.m. with host and WEAX manager Josh Hornbacher. The broadcast will feature live programming and provide a working example for TSU students learning broadcast media at the station.

Hornbacher sees the new show as a natural progression. “Being unique, yet consistent, is really earning WEAX a loyal fan base,” he said. “It’s only logical that we take the next step and do a live morning show.”

Expect something other than ho-hum programming.

“Because people expect college radio to be different, we’re free to ignore all of the standard radio clichés and formulas and really experiment,” Hornbacher said. “The show should be a lot of fun.”
