Tri-State University and the TSU Humanities Institute will  wrap up a free film series, Cinema Sampler, based on the theme “Imagined Lives,” on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Wells Theater, Taylor Hall. Widescreen projection and digital Surround Sound will enhance the viewing. The series is open to the public.

“Children of Men,” a 2006 film of 1 hour, 50 minutes duration, is rated R. It has received the description “an exhilarating sci-fi action thriller with a powerful social and political message,” from Claudia Puig of USA Today. An adaptation of a novel by P. D. James, the film takes place in the year 2027, 18 years after the last baby has been born in the world. This is director Alfonso Cuaron’s “magnificent, unique and totally original vision,” said Pete Hammond of Maxim. The film stars Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, and Michael Caine.
