The Steuben County Council on Aging is pleased to announce that senior citizens will benefit from a new partnership with Tri-State University. Those wanting to continue the goal of life-long learning can do so at no cost.
“The Steuben County Council on Aging, Inc. is pleased to join with Tri-State University to enable older adults the ability to participate in educational and cultural programs designed specifically to meet their needs and interests,” said Jeanne Horman, executive director of the Council on Aging. “Senior citizens can play a significant role in education by bringing an important perspective to the classroom with their years of knowledge and expertise.”
Tri-State University is offering free tuition for persons 60 years of age or older who are served by the Steuben County Council on Aging and who reside in Steuben County to take undergraduate courses for credit and/or non-credit. Students will be accepted on TSU’s main campus and TSU North, also located in Angola, Ind. The University also hopes to offer special classes taught on specific topics targeted toward the interests of seniors if needs arise.
“We are pleased to offer a partnership that we feel will not only strengthen the experience of all our students, but also strengthen the community as a whole,” said Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., president of TSU. “Council on Aging has provided programs that continue to enhance the quality of life for many citizens. We are excited to partner with an agency that has the community’s best interest at heart.”
