Tri-State University will host a special holiday evening for the Angola community on Sunday, Dec. 3. The event will feature holiday story time, a tree lighting ceremony, and a music concert by members of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, which is all free and open to the public. MORE>>

TSU women honored in Angola’s 100 year anniversary (Novemeber2006)

TSU launches first auctioneering degree in the United States (July 2006)

Tri-State University is offering the first auctioneering degree in the United States. The four- year program has been established through a partnership with the National Auctioneers Association (NAA). The Bachelor of Science in business administration with a major in auctioneering can be earned at the TSU North (Angola) campus both online and on campus. MORE>>

State Rep pledges support of new TSU and Ivy Tech program (June 2006)

With the support of State Representative B. Patrick Bauer, Tri-State University has collaborated with Ivy Tech Community College, and together they have created a new program specifically for Ivy Tech graduates. Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., president of TSU, and Virginia Calvin, Ed.D., chancellor of Ivy Tech in Elkhart, South Bend, and Warsaw signed a proclamation of partnership recently at Ivy Tech’s campus in South Bend. Tri-State University professor named president of statewide organization (May 2006)

Kathie L. Wentworth, M.Ed., has been elected to serve a two-year term as president of the Indiana Academic Advising Network (IAAN). She was inaugurated at the 9th annual conference in Fort Wayne over the weekend. The IAAN organization focuses on the academic advising needs of students in colleges across the state of Indiana. Fund-raising in the Vision for the Future campaign recognized by national organization (May 2006)

The Tri-State University Advancement Department has been awarded a bronze medal for their fund-raising abilities in the capital campaign, Vision for the Future. The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) chose TSU out of 48 entries to place among the top fund-raising colleges in the country. CASE is based in Washington, DC and Europe and provides professionals in alumni relations, fund-raising, and communications with support to advance educational institutions.

Tri-State University joins Project Lead the Way (May 2006)

Tri-State University will join institutions in 45 states and the District of Columbia in promoting Project Lead the Way (PLTW). This not-for-profit organization, developed in the 1980’s, encourages middle and high school students to participate in pre-engineering courses before entering college. PLTW forms partnerships with public schools, higher education institutions, and the private sector to increase the quantity and quality of engineers and engineering technologist graduating from universities. Global citizenship addressed at workshop and retreat with FACET (May 2006)

Tri-State University will be collaborating with Indiana University in a unique way this next month. The opportunity to conference via interactive video with faculty and students from the United Kingdom, Uganda, and Macedonia will be available for those who participate in the IU Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching (FACET) Leadership Summer Institute hosted by Tri-State University. TSU receives $1 million gift from Trustee Emeritus (March 2006)
Dr. Clifford W. Sponsel '31, trustee emeritus, has gifted TSU $1 million, marking the second time he has donated one million dollars. It is the second million-dollar gift TSU has received this year. MORE >>

TSU hosts Regional Science Fair (March 2006)
The 45nd annual edition of the Northeastern Indiana Tri-State Regional Science Fair will be held Saturday, March 18, in Tri-State University’s Hershey Hall. This year’s fair will include over 300 projects by elementary and secondary students from four northeast Indiana counties. MORE >>

TSU scholarship gala sets another record (February 2006)
Tri-State University’s third annual scholarship gala was a huge success thanks to the community, friends, alumni, and faculty and staff of TSU.  Last weekend’s gala set another record with $63,000 raised for student scholarships.  This amount tops last year’s record by $3,000.  MORE >>

TSU receives major gift (February 2006)
Tri-State University has received one of its largest individual gifts in school history.  Dr. Robert L. and Dolores Jannen have donated $500,000 to TSU, with an additional $500,000 differed pledge. Dr. Jannen graduated from Tri-State College in 1950. MORE >>

University elects Colorado alum to Board of Trustees (February 2006)
Tri-State University has named Mitchel E. Rhoads to its Board of Trustees. Rhoads is Chairman of Rhoads Hold Ltd. Inc. and LePeep Restaurants, both based in Colorado. He graduated from Tri-State College in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (accounting). MORE >>

TSU's Habitat for Humanity schedules fundraiser dinner for spring build (January 2006)
Tri-State University’s Habitat for Humanity chapter is partnering with the First Congregational United Church of Christ to hold a Swiss Steak Dinner on Saturday, January 28 at 6:30 p.m.  Proceeds from the dinner will send students on a spring break trip.  Tickets are available for $8 and will include a presentation of the 2005 spring break trip.  MORE >>

TSU to celebrate Martin Luther King, Black History Month (January 2006)

Tri-State University’s 16th annual Martin Luther King, Jr.-Black History Celebration will take place on Thursday, February 2, at 7 p.m. in Best Hall 229.  The night will include free refreshments, entertainment, and a keynote address, “Difficult Days Ahead: From Protest in Montgomery to Peace in America.”  The public is welcome to attend. Tri-State University continues its prospective student open houses on Saturday, January 21 with a Luau in January.  High school students interested in various majors by our Allen School of Engineering and Technology, School of Arts and Sciences, Ketner School of Business, or Franks School of Education are encouraged to visit campus along with their families and attend the day’s events.  A complimentary lunch is included and admission to a TSU Thunder men’s basketball game.
