TSU schedules upcoming Commencement events

ANGOLA, Ind.- Founded in 1884, Tri-State University has held well over 100 Commencement ceremonies. The 2006 Commencement promises to be every bit as special, complete with historical events and distinctive guests. TSU will hold its annual Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 6 at 10 a.m. in Hershey Hall. At the event, nearly 300 students will walk through graduation ceremonies. James A. Armour, president of AM General, will be delivering the commencement speech for students, faculty, staff and guests. A Commencement breakfast will be at 7:45 a.m. in the Ketner Sports Center prior to the official ceremony. A reception following Commencement will also be held at Ketner Sports Center at 12 p.m.

“This year’s Commencement ceremony will be a fitting culmination for a wonderful year at Tri-State University,” said Dr. Earl D. Brooks, II, president of TSU. “However, the events leading up to Commencement ceremony will also hold a very special place in the history of TSU.”

Two buildings at TSU will be dedicated in honor of the men whose contributions to the University have helped to sustain the institution’s grandeur. The dedication of the Jannen School of Arts & Sciences will take place at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 4 at Best Hall in honor of trustee Dr. Robert L. and Dolores Jannen. The Franks School of Education will also be dedicated in honor of trustee Dr. Lawrence A. Franks at 4:15 p.m.  at the Ford Library.

Friday’s events, on May 5, will feature the Honor’s Day ceremony and reception from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Hershey Hall. The Senior Banquet will also take place on Friday with the social hour to begin at 6 p.m. in Ketner Sports Center and dinner to begin at 7 p.m.
