TSU boasts another record breaking year

Tri-State University is celebrating its third consecutive year of financial and academic success. In fact, in recent remarks, TSU President Dr. Earl Brooks II noted that this is the University’s best financial year in the history of the institution.

In the past 12 months, the University raised over $13 million for its Vision for the Future campaign, a record amount, bringing the total to $56 million. The University has also retired additional debt, while increasing the institution’s endowment.

“This has been the strongest financial year in our history,” said Brooks. “Our total net assets are up $9.4 million, our total revenue has increased 22.5 percent, and our net cash from operating activities increased $8.3 million.”

The University recently adopted a master plan with construction already underway on several new facilities. All of the capital projects and facility upgrades are being accomplished through fundraising. In fact, the Office of University Advancement received a national Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for its efforts.

In addition to TSU’s physical growth and financial health, the University also experienced the highest enrollment numbers of recent years. A total of 374 quality new students, 321 freshmen and 53 transfer students, will join returning students this fall for a total estimated enrollment of 1,500 students. That number includes 20 freshman honors students with the average high school GPA of 3.98 and an average SAT score of 1380.

“This is a monumental year in the history of TSU,” said Brooks. “The historic impact of our master plan coupled with our incoming class of outstanding students paints a bright future for TSU.”
