Tri-State University is pleased to announce the receipt of three contributions and a grant to their capital campaign, Vision for the Future. At the recent Homecoming Touchstone dinner celebration, Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., president of TSU, accepted the gifts toward the newly expanded campaign goal of $90 million.
Steel Dynamics Inc., headquartered in Fort Wayne, Ind., donated $250,000 to the Vision for the Future capital campaign. The gift will be used to fund the University Center and Center for Technology and Online Resources scheduled to be completed in 2007.
Bon Appétit presented a check for $300,000 to the University. Bon Appétit has been providing fresh, healthy food to the students, staff, and guests of TSU since 2004. Bon Appétit’s contribution was directed to the new University Center and Center for Technology and Online Resources.
An estate plan in the amount of $1 million was presented to the University from Jana Moak. Moak, who is currently a Board of Trustee member at the University, has pledged her contribution to the University Center and Center for Technology and Online Resources.
At the same dinner, Brooks announced that Tri-State University received a grant for $500,000 from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The grant is in support of a project entitled, “Academic, Mentoring, and Financial Support for Upperclass Students in STEM Disciplines,” which will award scholarships to undergraduates in engineering, science, math, and technology.
The TSU Board of Trustees approved the recommendation to raise the University’s capital campaign goal in the Vision for the Future capital campaign from $70 million to $90 million over the Homecoming weekend. Thus far, TSU has raised $65 million toward their 2009 target, which will mark the University’s 125th anniversary of its founding.
“The addition of over $2 million dollars to our newly approved capital goal is a tremendous start toward the goal that we have ahead of us,” said Robert Remington, vice president of university advancement. “We would like to thank all of those alumni, corporations, foundations, and friends that have contributed to the Vision for the Future capital campaign goal.”
