Tri-State University is pleased to announce the opening of an seventh off-campus location in partnership with Howe Military School, located in Howe, Ind. The new location will offer classes for both Howe Military students, other high school students and area residents. Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., President of TSU, and Duane VanOrden, Superintentent of Howe Military, signed a proclamation of partnership on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Howe Military School. Both pledged their support of this unique educational opportunity.
“We look forward to this being a long relationship with Tri-State University,” said VanOrden. “We believe that TSU is an outstanding college institution, and this project will greatly benefit the students and the community as a whole.”
The new location will offer courses in general education, as well as beginning courses for business and criminal justice degrees. According to Dr. Jean Deller, Dean of the School of Professional Studies, as demand increases, TSU will increase the amount of courses available. TSU will begin offering classes at Howe Military School in the fall of 2006. High school students will be able to utilize the middle college program, which offers students in high school a way to jump start their college education while earning college credit while still in high school. Adults can also utilize career-oriented learning taught by professionals who work full-time within their individual fields of expertise.
"Demand for employees with a college education continues to grow,” said Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D. “This is just one more way that Tri-State can conveniently continue reaching the needs of communities and individuals that want to make a difference.”
