Urbanski and Lies Named to All-MIAA Baseball Team

Tri-State University seniors Mark Urbanski (Rochester Hills Mich./Notre Dame Prep) and Jon Lies (Granger, Ind./Penn) were honored by the MIAA for their accomplishments on the diamond this season. Urbanski was named a first team selection and Lies was named to the second team.

Centerfielder Urbanski batted .347 in conference play with 25 hits and 20 runs scored. He led TSU with three home runs 16 RBI’s and seven stolen bases. In the field, Urbanski had a .936 fielding percentage with 42 putouts and two assists.

Second baseman Lies led the Thunder with a .368 batting average and .463 on-base percentage. He had 25 hits and 10 walks in MIAA action. As a second baseman he had 44 putouts, 48 assists and six errors for a .939 fielding percentage.

Kyle Stoops (Elkhart Ind./Elkhart Central), Dusty Bergman (Ney Ohio/Fairview), Matt Laucher (Marion Ohio/Ridgedale) and John Kimmerly (Niles Mich./Brandywine) were named to the list of honorable mention players by the coaches.

Brittany Zimmerman Earns All-MIAA Softball Honors

Tri-State University freshman second baseman Brittany Zimmerman (Hamilton Ind./ Hamilton) was honored as a second team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association selection. Zimmerman led the Thunder with a .405 batting average and on base percentage of .490 in conference play.

As a second baseman, Zimmerman had 40 put outs and 31 assists. She committed five errors on the season for a .934 fielding percentage.

Senior pitcher Abbie Walker St. Charles Mich./St. Charles) and freshman outfielder Karly Hooker (Whiting, Ind./Bishop Noll) were named to the list of honorable mention players by the coaches.
