TSU students receive multiple scholarships

ANGOLA, Ind.—Tri-State University is pleased to announce that several students have received scholarships for their academic achievements. These unrestricted scholarships may be used to cover any reasonable expenses (tuition, room and board, books, etc.) in the student’s current year of study at TSU.

Senior Alan Feller of Danville, Ind. has received the prestigious Benjamin F. Fairless Scholarship from the Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST). Feller, who is a mechanical engineering major, will receive one of two $2,000 scholarships. Feller joins previous winners from Ohio State, Missouri-Rolla, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Iowa in receiving the award. His GPA, an essay, letters of recommendation, and college transcript were taken into account in determining his candidacy for the scholarship.

In addition, Kai Hartman of Frankfort, Ind. and Matt Minnich of Portland, Ind. have each received regional level scholarships from the North American Die Casting Association (Chapter 25). The award is a $1,000 scholarship each, with preference given to Foundry Education Foundation schools and residents of Central Indiana.

“These scholarships demonstrate that our students compete well nationally,” said Darryl Webber, Foundry Education Foundation Key Professor at TSU. “The Benjamin F. Fairless Scholarship also displays the strength of Tri-State’s mechanical engineering program, as the recipient is normally selected from a metallurgical engineering department in North America.”
