Tri-State University slates Spring Frenzy Open House and 4th Annual Engineering Expo

Tri-State University’s Spring Frenzy Open House and 4th Annual Engineering Expo will take place on Friday, April 28 on the Angola campus. The Jannen School of Arts and Sciences, Allen School of Engineering and Technology, Franks School of Education, and Ketner School of Business will be presented for all those interested in attending Tri-State University. Activities planned for the open house include panel discussions, school overviews, tours, and a chance for prospective students to meet with professors and administration in all departments. The open house will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Trine Welcome Center.

The afternoon Expo event will feature keynote speaker Dr. David Quick of Rolls-Royce in Indianapolis at the campus’s Fawick Hall at 1 p.m.  As a retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Colonel, former Air Force Academy faculty member, and engineer for the Air Force’s R&D community, Dr. Quick now manages the research and technology contracts and proposal process for the R&D Customer Requirements for LibertyWorks™ of Rolls-Royce Corporation.

In addition to hearing one of the industry’s best, students will also have the opportunity to view what current engineering students at Tri-State University are creating. Among the projects to be showcased are an autonomous fire-fighting robot, a working electrocardiograph, MEMS-based micro-scale cooling of electronic components, and a conceptual recreational vehicle (RV) design.

Also on display at the expo will be a Hummer vehicle, which Tri-State University obtained through their connections with AM General Corporation in South Bend.

“The expo provides an opportunity for the community, local industry, prospective students, and potential employers of our graduates to see the scope and variety of engineering covered by our programs and the high quality of the student design work,” said Roger J. Hawks, PhD., Dean of Allen School of Engineering and Technology. “These projects demonstrate our commitment to producing a work-ready engineer who can make an immediate contribution. The Expo also invites local industry to participate by exhibiting their products and capabilities.”

Prospective students interested in attending the open house and Expo should register online by clicking here or contact the TSU Admission Office at 260.665.4281. The general public is invited to attend the Expo beginning at 1 p.m., and no registration is required for this portion of the event.
