ANGOLA, Ind.- Tri-State University has announced the formation of a new Graduate and School of Professional Studies (SPS) Council within Academic Affairs. The committee will be responsible for oversight, program development, assessment, and resources necessary to support programs specifically within these areas of the institution.
According to Dr. David Finley, Vice President of Academic Affairs, the development of the committee is in response to a changing post-secondary landscape.
“A primary advantage of the Graduate/SPS Council structure is that it is learner-centered and market responsive in critical ways,” noted Finley. “This staff understands the nature of the learners, their concerns, and their needs. Furthermore, the council is intended to provide more flexibility in program development and in responsiveness to the market. The goal is to develop a more streamlined decision making process, providing autonomy and oversight.”
Six individuals, representing all areas of the University, have been selected to comprise the Council with Dr. Finley. These individuals include: Dr. Roger Hawks, Dean of the Allen School of Engineering and Technology; Dr. Jean Deller, Dean of the School of Professional Studies; John Milliken, Assistant Professor of the Jannen School of Arts and Sciences; Scott Gruner, Adjunct Professor of the Ketner School of Business; Deb Helmsing, Registrar; and Kristina Brewer, Library Director. The members are appointed by Dr. Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., President of TSU. They will each serve two year, renewable terms.
