University Center and Center for Online Resources

New construction continues to change the face of Tri-State University, with Homecoming weekend on Oct. 4-6 set for the unveiling of the new University Center and Center for Online Technology, new student apartments, and C.W. Sponsel Administration Center.

The 70,000-square-foot University Center will house student dining and become the new home of WEAX 88.3-FM, the student radio station. A 250-seat theater, new library, fitness center, various eateries and even a rock-climbing wall, with access through a central mall area, are other features.

The Center for Online Technology will showcase the latest in technology to enhance learning and expand communication. Included will be a global workplace, Center for Digital Excellence, and multi-purpose and digital media group training spaces. The center will be the hub for all campus activity, and provide retail and social outlets for the entire community as well.

Student Apartments

Several new student apartment buildings will make dormitory-style housing a thing of the past for TSU. Complete with private suites and restroom areas, these new units will include a recreation area equipped with a pool table, an air hockey table, and a big screen television. In addition, each common area will have a fireplace and small bistro area.

The improvements are part of a Vision for the Future capital campaign aimed at channeling $90 million into the University’s master plan through 2009.

C.W. Sponsel Administrative Center

The C.W. Sponsel Administration Center will restore the former Sniff building to its original grandeur and provide a gracious work space for the offices of marketing and alumni advancement, and the university’s administration. A board room will occupy the fourth floor.
