TSU intends to invest
millions in campus improvements


University Center and Center for Online Resources

ANGOLA, Ind.-In addition to the Tri-State University’s new University Center and Center for Online Resources, slated to be open in fall of 2007, TSU is also announcing additional projects that will forever change the face of the University. An field house with indoor 200-meter track and new student apartments, replacing dormitory-style residence halls, will be constructed. In addition, renovations will be completed on C. W. Sponsel Administrative Center, the Franks School of Education (Ford Library and Bookstore), and the Ketner School of Business (Shambaugh Hall). Integrated in these plans will be new infrastructure and technology that includes an expanded fiber optic network, a completely wireless environment, Shared Multimedia Access to Resources for Teaching (SMART) classrooms, and a laptop implementation program. These undertakings, along with future projects, were recently approved by the TSU Board of Trustees in conjunction with the success of the Vision for the Future capital campaign.

“The University Center project is the largest single project in the history of TSU,” noted Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., President of TSU. “However, these added projects will be monumental in the way that TSU enters the future. These steps, along with our excellent faculty and staff, will ensure that we provide a first-class learning environment for our students and provide the necessary resources for a quality educational experience.”

Student Apartments

These projects coincide with other recent campus improvements, such as bunker renovation at Zollner Golf Course.  Other campus improvements completed recently include a renovation and expansion of the TSU Bookstore and a new coffee shop, expansion of the Fawick Hall and the Trine Welcome Center, upgrades to Best Hall, construction of new student apartment style housing, the Ketner Sports Center addition to Hershey Hall, and the conversion of Sniff Hall into the new C.W. Sponsel Administrative Center.

Tri-State University is a private, independent, co-educational institution offering associate, baccalaureate, and master degrees in more than 40 programs to students in engineering, mathematics, science, computer science, business, teacher education, communication, criminal justice, golf management, social sciences, and various other fields of study. TSU is a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and offers 19 varsity sports. Founded in 1884, TSU operates a 400 acre main campus in Angola, Ind. with off-campus centers in Angola, Fort Wayne, South Bend, Kendallville, Howe, Merrillville, Ind. and Centerville, MI.
