Tri-State University appoints new director to TSU North

Tri-State University has announced the new director of the TSU North campus in Angola. David E. Wagner, a longtime TSU faculty member, was selected for the position.

"David’s history at TSU is aclear indication of the success he will attain at TSU North,” said Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., president of TSU. “David’s technical background and leadership skills will help the north campus continue to advance, finding solutions for their adult learners and their industrial clientele.”

On the TSU campus since 1997, Wagner previously served as the director of the graduate programs and as an associate professor in the engineering technology program. The programs he developed are the first master level courses in TSU history. As a professor, Wagner was awarded the Steve and Mary Yacynch McKetta Excellence in Teaching Award in 1999 and the John J. and Mary Gelet McKetta Excellence in Teaching Award in 2004.

In addition to advancing the field of engineering and technology, Wagner has also been active in TSU athletics. He has served assistant baseball coach, head baseball coach and an assistant football coach.

According to Wagner, he is a college graduate because of evening classes. After returning from the Army, he began working full-time during the day. He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from the University of Toledo and his master’s degree in construction management from Eastern Michigan University in the evenings.

“I think it is important to focus on the needs of our adult learners by providing them a cost effective way to complete their degree as quickly as possible,” noted Wagner.

Recently, TSU North added two new degree programs, an associate degree in process control and an associate degree in plastics. The campus location offers 16 different degree programs with additional programs planned for this fall.
