White Named New Dean of Student Life

Long-time resident Randy White has been named Dean of Student Life at TSU. Previously, he served at Indiana University and Pokagon State Park.

“We’re very excited to have Randy join TSU,” said Michael Bock, TSU vice president for student and university operations. “Randy is a real ‘people person.’ As Dean of Student Life, he will do a great job interacting with our students and their parents and helping the University respond to students’ needs.”

White replaces Dr. Jean Deller, who became dean of TSU’s School of Professional Studies in June. As Dean of Student Life, White’s new duties will include overseeing all functions and activities of the Office of Student Life, including housing and counseling services; facilitating campus events such as Summer Orientation and Registration, Fall Orientation, Family Day Weekend, Homecoming and Senior Banquet; and serving as an advisor to the Board of Trustees’ Student Life Committee.

“I am thrilled to return to the community, and I look forward to being a part of the TSU family again,” said White. “In this new role, I hope to help students appreciate Steuben County as much as I do.”

Since last summer, White has been affiliated with Indiana University’s Eppley Institute for Parks and Public Lands. He helped develop blended learning training programs for the National Park Service Facility Management Program and taught various classes at Indiana University.

Previously, White served 26 years as the Pokagon State Park property manager and was an adjunct professor at TSU. He received his bachelor’s degree in recreation and park administration from Indiana University and his master’s degree in management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
