I got my B.S. in Mech. Eng. from University of Colorado and my M.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Houston.  I worked for 7 years for Rockwell Space Operations (now the United Space Alliance) at Nasa's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.  While at JSC, I served as the lead robotics mission designer for 2 shuttle payloads and as a shuttle flight controller for many space shuttle flights.  I performed my research for my masters while at JSC.  My thesis investigated the impact of advanced technologies on time-delayed telemanipulation and whether it was feasible to operate the space station robots from the ground control center.  We moved to Angola 7 years ago when my husband, Dr. John Wagner got a position teaching chemical engineering at TSU.  I stayed home with my 2 sons our first 3 years in the area.  Then I began teaching as an adjunct professor in the Engineering Technology Dept. at TSU.  After 4 years as an adjunct professor, I began teaching full time this fall.  I am very excited about serving as the faculty advisor for TSU's student chapter of SWE and getting involved in the Regional SWE as well.

My goals for our SWE student chapter are as follows:

  • To provide a forum for TSU's women engineering students to socialize and develop friendships.
  • To provide academic support through individual tutoring and group study sessions.
  • To provide professional exposure through guest speakers, field trips, and conventions.
  • To establish ties with alumni, industry, other universities, and women in industry.
  • To serve the University and field of engineering by encouraging younger women to consider a career in engineering.
  • To serve our university and local communities through volunteering and helping with local events.
