2008 Baseball Outlook

The TSU baseball team finished its third year in the MIAA with a fifth-place finish and an 11-17 record. Coach Perschke will have big shoes to fill replacing All-MIAA First Team outfielder/pitcher Dusty Bergman and his leadership. Also, four-year starter first baseman Ryan Long will be missed. However, TSU does return a core group of juniors, starting with most improved player Matt Laucher, captain (shortstop), Jordan Maxson (pitcher), Russell Braun, captain (outfielder), Dennis Skibbe (pitcher) and most improved pitcher Ben Thomas. The Tri-State University baseball team ended the 2008 season with a 5-1 loss to Calvin College. The Knights scored three runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth to secure the victory. The Thunder struggled from the plate and only managed three hits in the game. MORE >>

The Tri-State University baseball team limited Kalamazoo College to six hits in game one and two hits in game two as the Thunder went on to sweep the Hornets. TSU took game one by an 8-2 margin and got a complete game shutout by Adam Shiltz (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) on their way to a 7-0 win. 05.02 / Braun Leads Baseball Over Kalamazoo On Senior Day

Despite a battle with Mother Nature, Tri-State University baseball grabbed two victories on Saturday against the visiting Hornets of Kalamazoo. In game one, the Thunder shut out Kalamazoo 2-0 in 6.5 innings while in game 2, Tri-State had a come-from-behind win 3-2 in nine innings of play. MORE >>

The Tri-State University offense scored 13 runs in a game one victory and 16 runs in a game two victory to take the series from Alma College. TSU took a game one come-from-behind win 13-7 and took game two 16-6. MORE >>

The Tri-State University baseball team lost a non-conference game 9-3 against visiting Wabash College. The Little Giants offense was in full swing as they put together 15 hits. The TSU offense struggled to find consistency as they only accumulated four hits in the game. MORE >>

The Tri-State University baseball team split a doubleheader with the Alma College Scots 1-9, 4-0. The Scots pulled away from the Thunder in game one with a seven run fifth inning.
