What can joining Tri-State University’s Cheerleading Squad or Dance team do for me?
As a freshman, coming to a new school away from home can be intimidating, and it may be difficult to make friends, find your place in a collegiate atmosphere, or get involved with groups on campus. By joining the Tri-State University “Thunder” dance team or cheerleading squad, you will meet people with similar interests, who often become instant companions and friends, and who will help you settle in and establish other University ties.
What do we do?
We are here to provide half-time entertainment and to boost the crowd involvement at Tri-State University sporting events.
We also help promote community awareness of the fine things that are happening at Tri-State University. Whether it is by performing for local senior citizens in assisted living centers or in nursing homes, or by reaching out to the children of our community by hosting a spirit camp that gives them the opportunity to perform in front of friends and family at a college basketball game, we are a reflection of the evolving Tri-State University that has stood for excellence since 1884.
College is expensive—I don’t know if my parents can afford for me to be a part of either team.
Both teams are University-supported. That means that being a part of these teams involves little out-of pocket-expense for you and your parents.
How do I get involved?
It’s easy! Just contact Amy Bruney at 260.665.4141 or by e-mail at bruneya@tristate.edu.
If you’re not sure if you will have the time, or if you just don’t know if you’ll like it, we invite you to come and watch a practice or talk to one of the team members after a performance about how they manage their time and energy.
I still don’t know!
If you have talked to some of the team members and have attended a practice, this shows that you have interest!!! Just give it a try!
