2008 Men’s Golf Spring Outlook

Coach San Giacomo has a team comprised of veterans and rookies, with only one senior and top-heavy on freshmen and sophomores. The talent pool is deep, but varsity players must perform more consistently this spring than they did in the fall if the golf team is to succeed in a very tough spring tournament schedule. The Tri-State University men’s golf team hosted the two-day Bill Gettig Invitational at Zollner Golf Course. TSU had two teams compete in the event and took first and third place. The top team shot rounds of 379 and 276. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s golf team battled to a fourth place finish in the 11-team Lamkin Strimer Memorial Invitational. TSU shot a 314 on day one and 316 on day two for a two-day total of 630. Ohio Wesleyan University shot a 603 to capture the top team spot. MORE >>

04.11 / Men’s Golf Second in A.C. Eddy Invitational

The Tri-State University men’s golf team placed second in the A.C. Eddy Invitational held at Zollner Golf Course. TSU shot a team score of 302 and finished behind Spring Arbor’s score of 298. Spring Arbor’s Kris Bradshaw and Mike Mazzola tied for the low round with a score of 73. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s golf team competed in the Defiance Spring Invitational. As a team, TSU took the third spot with a score of 318. Ohio Northern squeaked by with the top team score of 315, followed closely by Indiana Tech at 316. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s golf team fell to Emory University in their first match of the spring season. Emory defeated Tri-State 319 to 336. Although the golfers fell to Emory, Shawn Floyd (Okemos, Mich./Okemos ) placed third with a score of 77 behind a tie for first (75). MORE >>

10.08 / Miller and Lorencz Named Second Team All-MIAA

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association recently announced the men’s golf all-conference honorees for 2007. Hope College took the top team spot with an average team score of 298.8. Olivet College was second at 300.9, followed by Albion College at 310.7. TSU placed third as a team with an average score of 311.0. MORE >>

10.06 / Miller Shoots Low Round at MIAA Jamboree Held at Zollner Golf Course

The Tri-State University men’s golf team concluded the fall season by hosting the MIAA Jamboree at Zollner Golf Course. TSU placed third as a team with a score of 305. Hope took the top honors with a score of 285, followed by Olivet with a 297. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s golf team placed third at the seventh MIAA Jamboree hosted by Calvin College. The Thunder shot a team score of 318. Hope took the top spot in the league with a first place finish and score of 301. Olivet fell with a second place finish and round of 309. MORE >>

09.29 / TSU Men’s Golf Team Shoots Low Round at MIAA Jamboree

The Tri-State University men’s golf team shot their low team round of the MIAA season and earned a tie for first with a 302 at the jamboree held at Lenawee Country Club. The Thunder tied with league-leading Olivet and second-place Hope. TSU gained ground on third place Albion with a six stroke advantage over the Britons. MORE >>

09.28 / Miller Ties for Medalist Honors at Venturi Classic

The Tri-State University men’s golf team placed second at the Ken Venturi Invitational held at Zollner Golf Course. Spring Arbor University took the top team honors with a score of 301. TSU shot a 304.  Clint Miller (Columbus, Ind./Brown County) tied for the low round with a 72. Tyler Alge of Holy Cross also shot a 72. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s golf team had their best finish of the MIAA season with a third place in the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Alma College. Olivet College took the top team spot with a score of 299, followed by Hope College at 300, and TSU with a round of 304. MORE >>

09.20 / MIAA Holds Fourth Men’s Golf Jamboree of the Season

Kalamazoo College was the host of the fourth men’s golf jamboree of the season that was held at The Prairies Golf Course. TSU tied for sixth place with Alma College with a score of 317. Hope College had the top team score with a 293 and slimmed Olivet’s league lead to two strokes. Olivet placed second with a 296. MORE >>

09.17 / Wolf Leads TSU Men’s Golf at MIAA Jamboree

The Tri-State University men’s golf team traveled to Wuskowhan Players Club to compete in the third MIAA jamboree of the season. TSU placed fifth with a round of 304. Host Hope College took the top spot with a score of 292, followed by MIAA-leading Olivet at 297.  MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s golf team placed fourth in the second league jamboree of the season. Olivet held on to their top spot with a low team score of 295. Hope was second at 303, followed by Alma with a score of 306 and TSU in fourth at 314. MORE >>

09.05 / MIAA Starts Men’s Golf Season at The Medalist

The 2007 MIAA men’s golf season kicked-off with their first jamboree held at The Medalist GC and hosted by Albion College. TSU started the season with a fifth place finish and a score of 324. Olivet College started the year on top with a  score of 312. Defending champion Hope College shot a 314 and finished second. Albion and Alma rounded out the top four. MORE >>

09.02 / TSU Men’s Golf Opens Season with 6th Place Finish at O.C. Lou Collins Classic

The Tri-State University men’s golf team placed 6th out of 17 teams at the O.C. Lou Collins Classic hosted by Olivet College. TSU shot a day one score of 311 and a day two total of 312 to finish five strokes out of fifth place. Olivet posted the top team score with a two-day total of 592. Eric Ross of Olivet was medalist with two matching rounds of 71. MORE >>
