2008 Men’s Golf Spring Outlook
Coach San Giacomo has a team comprised of veterans and rookies, with only one senior and top-heavy on freshmen and sophomores. The talent pool is deep, but varsity players must perform more consistently this spring than they did in the fall if the golf team is to succeed in a very tough spring tournament schedule. The Tri-State University men’s golf team hosted the two-day Bill Gettig Invitational at Zollner Golf Course. TSU had two teams compete in the event and took first and third place. The top team shot rounds of 379 and 276. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s golf team placed second in the A.C. Eddy Invitational held at Zollner Golf Course. TSU shot a team score of 302 and finished behind Spring Arbor’s score of 298. Spring Arbor’s Kris Bradshaw and Mike Mazzola tied for the low round with a score of 73. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s golf team fell to Emory University in their first match of the spring season. Emory defeated Tri-State 319 to 336. Although the golfers fell to Emory, Shawn Floyd (Okemos, Mich./Okemos ) placed third with a score of 77 behind a tie for first (75). MORE >>

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association recently announced the men’s golf all-conference honorees for 2007. Hope College took the top team spot with an average team score of 298.8. Olivet College was second at 300.9, followed by Albion College at 310.7. TSU placed third as a team with an average score of 311.0. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s golf team concluded the fall season by hosting the MIAA Jamboree at Zollner Golf Course. TSU placed third as a team with a score of 305. Hope took the top honors with a score of 285, followed by Olivet with a 297. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s golf team placed second at the Ken Venturi Invitational held at Zollner Golf Course. Spring Arbor University took the top team honors with a score of 301. Kalamazoo College was the host of the fourth men’s golf jamboree of the season that was held at The Prairies Golf Course. TSU tied for sixth place with Alma College with a score of 317. The 2007 MIAA men’s golf season kicked-off with their first jamboree held at The Medalist GC and hosted by Albion College. TSU started the season with a fifth place finish and a score of 324. The Tri-State University men’s golf team placed 6th out of 17 teams at the O.C. Lou Collins Classic hosted by Olivet College. TSU shot a day one score of 311 and a day two total of 312 to finish five strokes out of fifth place. Olivet posted the top team score with a two-day total of 592.
