2007 Outlook

The 2007 season represents a new beginning for the Tri-State University men’s soccer program. Coach Hazard implemented his system last season, familiarizing his players with his expectations, and he has recruited a tremendous freshman class. In 2007, the TSU men’s soccer program looks to shock the powers of the MIAA. Hazard is looking forward to creating a winning environment with the men’s soccer team.

The men will turn to three returning players for their leadership. The Thunder will be led by captains Joe Ponce (senior) and second team All-MIAA selection Justin Dow (junior). The third key returnee is sophomore honorable mention selection B.J. Still. “With the remaining players and some exciting new recruits, we are changing the culture on this team. Though we will be young, our expectations are high both on and off the field,” said Hazard.

The 2007 schedule begins with two difficult early-season tournaments: the Wittenberg Invitational and the TSU-hosted Ketner Classic. The season-opening tournaments will prepare the Thunder for the ever-tough MIAA schedule.

Hazard is very clear about his hopes for this season: “I don’t like losing. In 2007 we will be very young, but we expect to turn those tough losses into victories. No excuses. We are very determined to succeed this year. The boys know what we expect of them day in and day out, and they are eager to show what they can do.”
