2008 Men's Tennis Outlook
Coach Bill Maddock has many reasons for excitement as his 10th season as the men’s tennis coach opens at Tri-State University. The team is coming off the 2007 season with a young team of five freshmen and one sophomore in the lineup. They gained experience as they won six matches and lost 12 in the very competitive MIAA conference schedule. MORE >>

04.26 / Men’s Tennis Finishes 6th in MIAA Tournament
In Kalamazoo, Mich., the MIAA tennis tournament got under way Friday and Saturday afternoon. Match 1 of the tournament, Tri-State was defeated by Albion 7-0. In the singles, #1 Brett Becker (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) was defeated 6-4, 6-3, by Albion’s Brandon Still, while #2 Nick Garstka (New Haven, Ind./New Haven) was beat by Albion’s Andrew Lulek 6-0, 6-2. #3 and #4 singles results from Tim Buchmeier (New Haven, Ind./New Haven) and Issa Salsa (Flint, Mich./Carmen Ainsworth) were not recorded.

04.23 / Becker Cruises to Victory at #1 Singles
Tri-State University men’s tennis fell to the visiting Scots of Alma College 7-2. Brett Becker (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) won TSU’s only singles match with a 6-1, 6-1 win at #1 singles. Becker combined with Bryan Roth (Topeka, Ind./Westview) at #1 doubles for an 8-5 TSU victory. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s tennis team split the singles action but took two of three doubles matches against Bluffton for a 5-4 victory. The Thunder improves their season record to 8-6 while Bluffton falls to 1-14 overall. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s tennis team suffered a 7-2 loss to Kalamazoo College. Kalamazoo took two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles on their way to a victory. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s tennis team dropped an MIAA contest to Albion College 0-9. The Thunder drop their season record to 7-5 overall and 1-3 in the MIAA. Albion improves to 10-5 on the season and 3-1 in conference action. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s tennis team lost to MIAA foe Hope College 8-1 at the DeWitt Tennis Center in Holland, Mich. Bryan Roth (Topeka, Ind./Westview) won the Thunder’s only match at #6 singles with a 6-3, 7-6 (6) win. MORE >>

The Tri-State University men’s tennis team picked up a 9-0 MIAA victory over Adrian College. The Thunder improve their season record to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in conference action. Adrian falls to 2-12 overall and 0-5 in the MIAA. MORE >>

03.30 / TSU Men’s Tennis Hosts Thunder Doubles Tournament
The TSU Thunder men’s tennis team finished second behind a strong Alma College team in the third annual Thunder Doubles Tennis Tournament held at Minges Creek Athletic Club in Battle Creek, Michigan on Sunday, March 30th, 2008. This round robin doubles event was expected to be and was a highly contested affair. Grand Rapids Community College finished a close third, while Adrian College had a rough day not winning a match. The Tri-State University men’s tennis team opened the match with Defiance College by sweeping the doubles play. The Thunder dropped sets at #1 and #2 singles but were victorious by straight set wins at 3-6 singles. MORE >>
03.13 / TSU Men’s Tennis Defeats Manchester 6-3
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team used five wins in singles competition to defeat Manchester 6-3. Playing the number one spot, Tim Buchmeier (New Haven, Ind./New Haven) defeated Andrew Tkacs 6-4, 6-3.

03.10 / TSU Men’s Tennis Completes Successful Spring Trip
The Tri-State University men’s tennis team completed their spring trip to Hilton Head, S.C. with a 4-1 record. TSU opened the trip with an 8-1 victory over Lynchburg College. The Thunder swept Juniata College 9-0 on their second day of competition and took a 7-2 victory over Villa Julie College. TSU defeated Elizabethtown College 8-1 and fell to Malone College 0-9 for their only loss of the trip. The Thunder’s match against Covenant was cancelled due to rain. MORE >>
