2007 Outlook

First-year head coach Kevin Schaefer looks forward to the opportunity of continuing to move the Tri-State University volleyball program into an MIAA championship team. After suffering through an injury-plagued 2006 season, the Thunder expect a healthy and successful 2007 season.

Libero Erica Bednarski returns as the lone senior on the TSU roster. Bednarski has controlled the TSU defense for the past two seasons, and the team will look to her for the same this year.

Juniors Melissa Blake and Sallie Richardson return to the Thunder healthy after suffering injuries in their sophomore seasons. Even injured, Blake led the Thunder with 259 kills and was second with 95 total blocks last season. Richardson saw limited action last season and will be relied upon heavily in the TSU offense.

Sophomores Samantha Kumfer, Megan Wood, and Katelyn Storms earned valuable playing time last season. The trio will be expected to step into roles left by three graduated seniors.

Coach Schaefer has an exciting recruiting class of six freshman and four transfers. Juniors Tia Roberts, from Lake Michigan Junior College, and Melia Miller, from Macomb Community College, will battle for starting positions. Freshmen Tori Bluhm and Noelle Cook will push the returners for playing time right away.
