2008 Spring Outlook

The 2008 Tri-State University women’s golf team enters the spring season with high expectations. TSU finished the fall MIAA season second, and had four golfers named to the All-MIAA Second Team.

Senior Brittny Makohn (Jackson, Mich./Jackson), junior Allison Rodino (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Central), and sophomores Becca Miller (Logansport, Ind./Logansport), and Jessica Vanderklok (Scotts, Mich./Vicksburg) will be relied upon to lead the Thunder to their first NCAA National Championship.

The MIAA will host a three-round playoff in which the winner will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA championship. TSU will host the first round at Zollner Golf Course after capturing second place in the fall standings. MIAA champion Olivet College will host the final two rounds at The Medalist Golf Course.

The Thunder will open the spring season in St. Cloud, Fla., where they will compete in the Grand Valley State University Tournament. TSU will return home to Zollner Golf Course on April 15 for the TSU Spring Invitational before hosting round one of the MIAA playoff on April 9. Tri-State will also compete at the Legends of Indiana Golf Course on April 20 in the Franklin College Invitational. The team hopes to conclude the season on May 13-16 at the NCAA Nationals at Centennial Oaks Golf Club in Waverly, Iowa.
