2007 Outlook

Last year, the TSU women’s soccer team persevered through a difficult season. However, the team and the coach learned a valuable lesson, and they now understand what is needed to accomplish their goals.

Second-year TSU head coach Jared Burdick is thrilled to see the players use the experiences from last season as motivation to work diligently during the off-season. “The ladies are preparing hard for next fall and are extremely enthusiastic about the 2007 season. Their goal is to make this program competitive, not only within the conference, but nationally,” he said.

Seniors Jackie Havenaar, Stephanie Hawley, and Jackie Bercaw will be leading a young, but strong, team of sophomore and freshmen. Havenaar returns after leading the Thunder in points last season. Hawley started in 15 of TSU’s 16 games last season and will use her leadership to guide the young players. Bercaw returns to the team after a year’s absence. In 2005 she controlled the net for the Thunder and picked up 119 saves in 11 games.

Sophomores Amelia Ramiller, Kara Hershberger, Stephanie Hobbs, and Nicole Muzzillo return after gaining playing experience in 2006. Sophomore Patty Groh, who was sidelined in 2006 with an injury, adds depth to the returning roster.
